Curriculum Vitae:
Born in Skopje, Macedonia, on 5 December 1938.
Studied in France, Great Britain and the United States (with a Fulbright Scholarship).
Doctor in Law (1960) and Political Sciences (1962) at the University of Rome, La Sapienza.
After a spell at the Bank of Italy – Department for Research and International Economics (1961), he entered the Diplomatic Service.
From 1963 to 1974, successive posts:
Italian Mission to the United Nation, New York;
Italian Mission to the OECD, Paris;
Counselor at the Italian Embassy in London.
From 1975 to 1978:
Deputy Head of Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and later
Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister.
After a few years at the Italian Embassy in London as Deputy Head of Mission, he was appointed
Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister and Personal Representative (Sherpa) for the G7 Summits (1988-1992).
From 1992 to 1996:
Italian Ambassador in the Federal Republic of Germany
From 1997 to 2001:
Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
From 2001 to 2004:
Italian Permanent Representative to the European Union in Brussels
January 2004:
Second Appointment as Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
From 2005 to 2011:
President of the Italian Trade Commission – ICE

You can get your Wi-Fi username and password at the Front Office. You will have to show your passport or ID since it is prescribed by the Italian cyber-security law.
Moreover, in Venice there is a network of 200 free Wi-Fi hotspots for residents and holders of the imob card (the monthly vaporetto pass). The city coverage includes Campo Santa Margherita and all the vaporetto stops.

The VIU Library is located on the first floor in the main building.
The scope of the library is to provide all the necessary and useful materials which may be required by the students and the professors who come to VIU for courses, seminars and to participate in VIU conferences.
The library collection has been gradually increasing over the last 15 years of activity and nowadays it offers around 4000 items, including books, periodicals, movies and music cds.
All the materials are first classified according to the Dewey Decimal System and then divided and arranged according to three main subjects: History (in particular the history of Venice), Social Sciences and Economics.
The students who are interested in volunteering in the library, can have the opportunity of working 2-4 hours per week, learning librarian skills as well as helping with the lending and organizing of the books.
The library is open Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm.
The reading room which is an attractive, comfortable study hall, is accessible to users 24 hours a day.
