Scholarships

Each semester scholarships are available to talented, motivated students of the Globalization Program, in order to support them in completing their study period in Venice, or to foster their graduate and professional studies and careers in new and emerging fields.

VIU strives to promote excellence and diversity and to provide a powerful learning experience in which students develop their capacity for critical thinking and creative problem solving: since its foundation in 1995, VIU has increasingly worked to promote the research triangle of stakeholders – industry, academia and government – and collaborations with universities, cultural organizations and companies.

Four calls for applications are published yearly for the Internship and Mobility Program and two calls for the Scholarship Program supporting accommodation fees. Approximately 20 students per semester are selected for the internship program, depending on the amount of funds available for scholarships:

RED (Residency-Excellence-Diversity) Scholarship
To promote excellence, academic and cultural diversity in the Globalization Program: scholarships are awarded to talented students to contribute to the cost of living in Venice for a semester.
Selected students participate in an editorial project, under the guidance of Prof. Luca Pes, selecting materials from the participants, documenting the work of the GP plenary workshop, editing contributions and writing at least one long article, and two short articles for the VIU website and magazine.

Scholarships to support Worldwide Mobility
For a) students studying for a Master’s degree who intend pursuing research for their Master’s thesis in themes related to the Globalization Program, or b) advanced undergraduate students who are studying for a 4-year bachelor degree, who intend undertaking a final research thesis/project for credit in themes related to the Globalization Program.
Successful applicants attend the semester of courses at VIU and compete for research internships abroad, supported by scholarships.
Call for applications: open until February 22, 2019 for Spring 2019 semester.

Scholarships to support Internships in Italy
The call is addressed to Bachelor and Master's students from any of the member universities, including exchange students at Ca’ Foscari, Iuav and Padova, who are attending the semester at VIU (at least three courses) and who wish to do an internship in a host organization in Italy following the semester. Students selected for the internship in Italy are awarded a scholarship which will partially cover lodging and living costs.

Erasmus Grants Incoming
Students from KU Leuven, Ludwig Maximilians Universität, Université de Bordeaux and Tel Aviv University may be eligible for Erasmus+ grants during their studies at VIU. Interested candidates should consult the International Office at their own university, and should consider that they may need to apply 7-12 months in advance.

Erasmus Grants Outgoing
Students of the Italian member universities can apply to study for a semester at KU Leuven, Ludwig Maximilians Universität, Université de Bordeaux and Tel Aviv University, supported by Erasmus+ grants. Interested candidates should check the Calls for Application at www.univiu.org/erasmus and should consider that they may need to apply 6 - 9 months before the planned mobility abroad.
