This is an independent space, where we publish documentation and discourses for the use of future historians. We share descriptions about what we see in our daily life and beyond. We attempt to catch the signs of the present and the elements, which characterize our landscapes and current transformations in all its nuances. We imagine ourselves as builders of an endless time capsule, that is never finished but a rhizomatic network that is constantly growing, open to addition and relinking.
Materials are collected and created; categorized and archived; organized in themes. The purpose is to emphasise the infinite number of possible approaches, typologies of sources, at micro and macro level, locally and globally, attempting to collect and create documents from different places and, if possible, across continents.
We will try to act like archeologists, historians, documentarists, psychologists, collectors and scuba divers of the present. No series and theme will ever be considered closed. We have no fear of sketches, fragments and relics, nor of the open and the unconcluded. We want to suggest the urge for an aesthetics and politics of the infinite diversity as an antidote to a world, which we do not know where it’s going.
This open archive is founded in the intergenerational, pluridisciplinary and multicultural context of the Venice International University Globalization Program. It involves mostly VIU actual and former students and professors. The ambition is to create a wide multifold network.
