A satellite event of the Council of Europe's World Forum for Democracy.
The Plenary Workshop consists in an alternation of short talks and short game-theater performances by VIU students and professors on a specific theme, which is approached from different angles. This semester the Workshop will be devoted to Gender, the same topic of the 2018 World Forum for Democracy.
Aspects of Gender covered by short talks will span from social exclusion and mobilization, to digital ethics; from the gender binary in medical arenas, to the role of women for the resilience of biological diversity; from gender in the Italian Language and in Intercultural Communication; from masculinity in Russian History and Hollywood silent movies, to the women's role in Japanese Nation-Building; from the representation of Women in Russian Jewish Art to Gender in Renaissance and present time Venice.
The Workshop will include a collective discussion on "Gender Inequality. Solutions?"

The game-theater performances by students are directed by Gad Kaynar Kissinger (Tel Aviv University), with the contribution of Kirsten Stirling (UNIL University of Lausanne) and the participation of her class on Shakespeare.

The VIU Workshop is a satellite event of the World Forum for Democracy of the Council of Europe which will take place in Strasbourg from 19 to 21 November 2018.
The World Forum for Democracy 2018 will be dedicated to gender equality and women’s rights. It will focus in particular on women’s public, political and economic participation and on combating violence against women in the wake of #MeToo.
