During the Opening Ceremony of the Spring Semester on February 21, the President of VIU, Amb. Umberto Vattani, announced that earlier in the day the VIU Board of Directors had voted unanimously to admit the prestigious Korea University to the Venice International University consortium.
President Vattani extendeded a warm welcome to Korea University President, Prof. Jaeho Yeom and Vice-President Prof. Sunhyuk Kim, who were in Venice for the occasion, having also participated the previous day in the celebrations at Ca' Foscari to mark the 150th anniversary since its foundation.

Precision medicine - which has garnered much attention in the medical community since the launch of the Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI) advocated by former US President Barack Obama - is a next-generaton medical paradigm that precisely categorizes individual patients based on their genomes, clinical information, living conditions, and personal habits, to provide highly personalized healthcare.
Protecting Humanity from Natural Hazards: Korea University's Natural Hazard Research Center was established to lead and perform more focused natural hazard research: in addition to the Nuclear Safety Research Project, which aims to ensure the seismic safety of new and existing nuclear power plants in Korea, KU is currently conducting a research and development project that analyzes the Korean Peninsula's crustal deformation using GPS to predict earthquake-prone areas.
KU, Leading the Advances in Brain Engineering Globally: brain engineering is expected to disrupt various industries and even personal lives, and will have an enormous impact in the future.
