Sustainable Ports is a new research project funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Program. The project will improve the safety and environmental sustainability of marine and coastal transport services and nodes by promoting multimodality.
SUSPORT intends to strengthen the institutional capacity and cross-border governance of the ports of the Programme Area in this sector, enhancing environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
In particular, a model of cross-border planning for environmental sustainability and port energy efficiency will be developed and then rolled out in each port through according to a plan which will be tested in concrete pilot actions, with tangible results.
On July 6th the Susport Kick off meeting presented the logical framework of the project: from studying the existing situation environmental sustainability and energy efficiency in ports, drafting pilot actions, to the implementation of the actions, and the establishing of long-term institutional cooperation in the Programme Area.
The Sustainable Logistics unit of VIU-TeDIS is one of the project partners and its main role in the project is to define the methodology for the implementation of the Training Needs Assessment (TNA) related to the analysis of port environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. The objective of the document is to provide SUSPORT project partners with a common methodological framework including all the elements that are necessary to prepare the TNA that will focus on the inventory of Greenhouse Gases (GHG), ie. the carbon footprint of the port area.
