Special guest: Cornelio Campos, Mexican-U.S. artist
The 2|17 cycle of VIULECTURES will host on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 the Mexican-US artist Cornelio Campos who will discuss with Prof. Charles D. Thompson, teaching at VIU during the Fall 2017 term “Social Documentary as Global Phenomenon”.
Cornelio Campos is a Mexican-born artist, who moved to the U.S. in 1989. Through a modern folkloric art style, vibrant colors and deep symbolism, Campos explores complex realities of migrant life that are often concealed or misconstrued to the public. His paintings present a spin on contemporary issues, such as immigration, the U.S Mexican border, and cultural identity.
