6th Edition | Restart Venice | Registrations open
The Climathon Venice is an opportunity to learn, to meet the Ecosystem of Innovation in Venice, and to face the challenges of today, with the ultimate goal of creating value together.
Venice International University is scientific partner of the Climathon Venice 2021, a competition of ideas designed to develop innovative and sustainable projects that help to solve the climate crisis and boost our economy & society in this current pandemic.
The Climathon is organized by Venice Calls and in collaboration with SerenDPT Benefit Corporation as host, and will take place at the new headquarter of Venice Calls and in Fabbrica H3, both part of the compound of Santi Cosma et Damiano in Giudecca. The Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) is also scientific partner in the event.
The 6th edition of the Venice Climathon is its largest version yet. The main event will be run similar to the past years - there will be two full days of idea generation and cultivation during the hackathon. For this Edition, an approach path has been added during September and October. There are three Pre-Events, in collaboration with different partners, and one Special Event, in collaboration with the MITdesignX Venice, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology of Boston. These will serve as workshops for participants to learn, brainstorm, and explore potential partners as well as methods for idea generation, project development and startup launch in order to have the largest impact on the Venetian economy.
The main event, "Climathon Restart Venice" is a hackathon on climate-related challenges, and this year will be open to all the projects that face the challenges of today: the pandemic and the climate crisis.
The Challenge this year is open to all those ideas facing climate change, the current pandemic and that can be applied in the territories of Venice. Specifically, three thematic focuses will be addressed:
1) Social Innovation
2) Circular Fashion
3) Creativity and Craftsmanship
One winner will be selected from each thematic focus, and an overall winner will be awarded the trophy of the 6th Edition of the Climathon Venice!
