On October 13-14, 2022, Alessandra Fornetti and Ilda Mannino from the VIU TEN Program on Sustainability will participate in an international conference titled “Reinventing Science Communication? Challenges for the Post-Truth Era”.
They, along with Massimiano Bucchi (University of Trento), will present their paper on “Challenges, Opportunities and Tools for Scientists and Research Institutions”, featuring the results of the research carried out in the H2020 project QUEST. The role of researchers in communicating to the public is explored along with the support that research institutions governance can offer for capacity-building, skill enhancement, and the facilitation of science communication activities. The reflection starts with analyzing the barriers to supporting quality science communication in research institutions and its potential. Training has once more been identified as one of the key elements fostering the institutionalization of science communication among scientists and research institutions, while also supporting its quality.
The 2-day event organized by a VIU member, the University of Ljubljana, with Alternator and the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, will be an occasion for knowledge-sharing among science communication experts working in research, practice, training, and education.
