5 pm, Aula Magna (1E)
The Closing Ceremony will gather together the about 100 students representing nearly 20 nationalities throughout three continents who since last September have come to San Servolo and attended in person the courses taught by professors from VIU's member universities.
The Globalization Program brings together talented, motivated students from the member universities in a truly multicultural, international and interdisciplinary environment. Students enjoy a powerful learning experience in which they develop their capacity for critical thinking, working across disciplines, and creatively embracing new ideas. The academic courses are complemented by an extensive program of co-curricular activities, taking students out of the classroom, and into the city of Venice for on-site classes, visits to cultural institutions, civic associations and businesses, and places of historic and artistic significance.
The program of the Ceremony will include:
Opening Remarks
Prof. Carmelo Marabello, VIU Dean
Prof. Luca Pes, Vice-Dean and Globalization Program Scientific Director
Awards for Academic Excellence, selected by the 1st Semester 2022-23 faculty
Musical performance by Iranian artists, invited by the students of prof. Göltenboth's course "Anthropological Perspectives on Borders, Migration and Mobility in the Mediterranean".
An exhibition of art by the Iranian artist Massume Hossaini will be on display in the Manica Lunga corridor on the ground floor.
A farewell cocktail will follow.
