"Marco Polo in China: a History of Cultural and Commercial Exchanges"
On the occasion of the Celebrations of the 700th Anniversary of the death of Marco Polo, Venice International University is honored to invite Prof. Tiziana Lippiello, Rector of Ca' Foscari University, to deliver the Lectio Magistralis during the Opening Ceremony of the 2023-24 Second Semester of the Globalization Program.
Tiziana Lippiello graduated in 1986 in Oriental Languages and Literatures at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice and studied at the University of Foreign Languages in Beijing, at the Faculty of Philosophy of Fudan University in Shanghai (1985-1987) and at the Faculty of Letters from Leiden University (1989-1993), where she received her Ph.D.
She began her career as a researcher at the University of Trieste and in 2000 she joined Ca' Foscari, where she teaches classical Chinese language. Within the University she was a member of the university senate, director of the Department of Asian and Mediterranean African Studies, and Vice-rector with responsibility for International Relations, during which time she served as a member of the Board of Directors at Venice International University.
Since 1 October 2020, Tiziana Lippiello is Rector of Ca' Foscari University of Venice and since 2023 President of Eutopia European University.
She is also a member of the CRUI Board (Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities) and president of the Univeneto Foundation.
