9 am - 1 pm | Room 1E
The plenary workshop is a key VIU event in which professors and students of the Globalization Program explore and discuss a theme chosen together at the beginning of the semester.
This semester the theme will be Resilience.
Here is how the RED students presented the selected theme:
In a world facing climate change, economic instability, and cultural shifts, resilience is key to survival. Cities must become more disaster-proof, cultural heritage must be safeguarded against globalization, and economic models must adapt to ensure sustainability. Circular economies, urban resilience strategies, and social adaptability shape the future of stability. True resilience is not just about enduring change - it’s about using it as a foundation for stronger, more adaptive societies.
Participants will offer their interpretation of an aspect of this theme, working as a class group or on their own, taking inspiration from what has come out of the program of the courses they are attending or presenting their personal experience.
The program will include performances, dialogues, music and dances with the participation of VIU GP students and professors.
Some talks, presentations and videos will stem from the courses taught by:
Gadi Algazi (Tel Aviv University)
Patricio Barbirotto, Sara Dal Monico and Sara De Vido (Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia)
Massimo Brunzin, Carola Drago and Laura Ventruto (Venice International University)
Francesco Goglia (University of Exeter)
Shinji Hasegawa (Waseda University)
Hadas Mamane (Tel Aviv University)
Christof Mauch (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität)
Denis Renevey (Université de Lausanne)
The detailed program will be soon published in a box at the side of the page.
The Plenary Workshop is a unique opportunity to recognize the VIU community as one, breaking the borders between the courses, training students to address topics of the disciplines taught to a broader audience, revealing the hidden talents of the participants, and forging multicultural and transgenerational bonds.
